The Knowledge Base feature lets you upload documents and have the AI search, read, and reference them when answering your questions. This is powered by RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) - semantic vector search that finds relevant information in your files.

What is Knowledge Base?

When you upload documents to your conversation, doXmind:
  1. Extracts the text content from your files
  2. Splits the content into searchable chunks
  3. Creates semantic embeddings for intelligent search
  4. Enables the AI to find and cite relevant passages
This means you can ask questions about your documents and get accurate answers with references to the source material.

Supported File Types

PDF

Research papers, reports, ebooks, and any PDF document.

Word

Microsoft Word documents (.docx) with formatting preserved.

PowerPoint

Presentation files (.pptx) - slides are converted to searchable text.
File size limit: Up to 50MB per file.

How to Upload

Open the chat panel

Click the chat icon to open the AI assistant panel.

Upload your files

Drag and drop files directly into the chat area, or click the attachment button to browse.

Wait for processing

The file is processed and indexed. You’ll see a confirmation when it’s ready.

Ask questions

Start chatting! The AI will automatically search your uploaded documents when relevant.

How RAG Search Works

When you ask a question, the AI:
  1. Searches your uploaded documents for relevant passages
  2. Retrieves the most relevant chunks of text
  3. Generates an answer using both the retrieved information and its own knowledge
  4. Cites the source documents when appropriate
This ensures answers are grounded in your actual documents rather than just general AI knowledge.
