A file does not appear in the workspace
- Confirm that it uses a stable format: Markdown, PDF, or XLSX. XLSM support is limited.
- Refresh or reopen the folder after changing files outside doXmind.
- Convert CSV files to
.xlsx; DOCX and PPTX are not supported.
A scanned PDF has no editable text
doXmind does not include OCR. It can display image-only pages, but text editing requires text that can already be extracted from the PDF.PDF or workbook edits seem to be missing
PDF and spreadsheet Save writes editable state to the hidden sidecar, not to the original source file. Keep the sidecar next to the source, then use the format-specific export action to create a new edited PDF or.xlsx file.
Changes are missing from an export
- Save and wait for the header to show Saved.
- Use Export PDF or Export XLSX from the document menu.
- Open the newly exported file, not the original source.
- For spreadsheets, recheck formulas after structural row or column changes.
A document is read-only after an upgrade
An older PDF or spreadsheet sidecar may need migration. Follow the recovery message shown by doXmind. Do not delete.lock, .bak, or .corrupt-* files manually; they may be required to recover the previous state. If the app directs you to restore a .bak, close doXmind first, preserve the current sidecar, and confirm that the backup belongs to the same source file before replacing anything.
Hidden sidecars are not visible
In Finder or the macOS Trash, pressCmd+Shift+. to show hidden files. A sidecar begins with a dot and ends in .doxmind.
A file is too large to open
The local file import limit is 10 MiB. Workbooks are also capped at 64 worksheets, 5,000 rows per sheet, and 200 columns per sheet. Split large documents when possible.Still need help?
